The History of Wharfeside House
A sponsored walk in 1969 by the young people of Huddersfield raised money to enable the purchase of Wharfeside House. This facility has been enjoyed by our residents over the past 25 years and continues to offer the young people of Huddersfield an excellent opportunity to experience a wide range of activities suitable to the different age groups. The House is now increasingly used for mid-week and weekend breaks by adult and family groups keen to enjoy the great countryside on the doorstep.
Booking
Wharfeside House is open to Groups, Schools Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Societies, Uniformed Organisations and other Clubs and Societies. Each party must provide its own adult leader who will be responsible for the overall supervision of the party and the catering and domestic arrangements. Advice and assistance is always available form the Warden when required. Adult and family groups are also welcome.
All bookings must be made on the official booking form available from the Warden. A 50% non-returnable deposit must accompany the application. It should be fully understood that no booking can be guaranteed until the deposit is received. The balance must be paid 14 days prior to the date of arrival of the group.

Kettlewell
The Village of Kettlewell is situated in the upper reaches of Wharfedale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Here, the Dale is narrow and shut in on either side by an unbroken line of fells.
The River Wharfe runs crystal clear down the centre of the Dale where its green pastures are cut by limestone walls. It is a valley favoured by nature, a paradise for naturalist and walker.
Great Whernside and Buckden Pike form a striking background to the Village. Wensleydale, Littondale, Coverdale and other Yorkshire Dales are easily accessible from Kettlewell, as are the picturesque Villages of Malham and Grassington.
Kettlewell is reached by road from Skipton, B.6265 to Threshfield, B.6160 Kettlewell.
